Dysport™

Similar to Botox® Cosmetic, Dysport™ is a non-surgical approach to wrinkles located in the glabella (between the eyes), forehead lines, and wrinkles on the lateral portions of the eyelids (crows feet), and is not permanent (FDA studies have shown a 4-month duration). Approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in April 2009, Dysport™ has been available in Europe, Asia, and South America for 18 years and has been proven a safe and effective treatment. Patients have reported that Dysport™’ has taken effect faster than Botox® Cosmetic, in as little as 24-48 hours. There are also reports that Dysport™ may last longer than Botox®.

One week prior to treatment, patients will want to avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, Vitamin E and St. John's Wort. This will help minimize any bruising or bleeding. The most common side effects are temporary swelling and redness and these will usually subside within 2-3 days.
